Stewart Gill’s range of Power and Free Conveyors offers the highest level of versatility in overhead conveying, enabling products to be assembled, inspected, finished or buffered ‘on line’.

The Power and Free Conveyor consists of two basic elements, a ‘powered’ track comprising a continuously moving chain with drive dogs and the ‘free’ track mounted below, which incorporates trolleys and hangers which carry the load.

The trolleys can be disengaged from the powered chain by means of mechanical stoppers, enabling buffering and stationary positioning of products. Furthermore, the power and free principle allows products to be diverted into sliding areas by means of automatic switch points.

It is also possible to lower stationary trolleys and hangers by means of in-line drop/lift sections.

Power and Free Conveyors lend themselves to full automation, utilizing product recognition systems (e.g. bar codes, electronic transponders) incorporation full PLC or computer control.
